Lutron Reduced Hiring Costs by 59% with Redesigned Sourcing Strategy

Lutron, a global market-leading lighting control manufacturer, struggled to source the engineers and technicians needed to support growth and innovation. With offices across the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, they needed long-term RPO services to support recurring non-exempt and exempt hiring needs – at scale – and in rural and suburban areas.

Operating for over 60 years, they are committed to upholding industry-leading standards in their products and services and, understandably, place a lot of emphasis on the quality of their engineers and technicians. Finding the right volume and quality of talent was critical to both their short- and long-term goals.

Lutron’s Challenge

With expanding product and service offerings planned for North and South America, Lutron needed a flexible and scalable volume recruitment solution that could source over 200 engineers and technicians annually in both rural and suburban areas. The roles required ranged from Engineering Manager Product Security, Embedded Software Design Engineer, IoT Architect, Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer, and many more.

With local language considerations, high standards, complex technical requirements, limited local talent pools and stretched internal resources, they needed a long-term RPO partner who could establish a recruitment process that was scalable for both global and local recruiting needs and able to source the right volume and quality of engineers and technicians.

Building a Successful Talent Solution

Pierpoint assembled two teams; one to provide internal coverage supporting Latin America project hiring requirements and one to work on-site in the US and redesign their global sourcing strategy. This included a technology audit and implementation, talent pool targeting, sourcing, marketing, project management, multilingual support as well as full reporting and analytics.

The Pierpoint teams were united in their efforts to increase the available talent pools and create an ongoing, optimized strategy to source the right quality and quantity of talent when and where needed. Accurate reporting, performance metrics, and analytics were used to evolve their existing processes into a data-centric recruitment strategy.

By redesigning the sourcing strategy to include passive talent attraction combined with data-led targeting and local, branded recruitment marketing campaigns, Pierpoint increased the company’s access to fully qualified, niche engineering and technician specialists in rural and suburban areas.
